About The PACE Center
The Pharmaceutical care And Continuing Education (PACE Center) – formerly known as the Pharmacists and Continuing Education Center – was conceived and established within the Office of International Programs at Howard University Continuing Education, Silver Spring Maryland, in February, 1993. Since that time it has focused on the training needs of pharmacists and others involved in pharmaceutical care. With the rapid technological advancements in medicine today, and the promise of medical breakthroughs in drug development in the new millennium, the Center recognizes the great responsibility that rests with providing pharmaceutical care globally. This responsibility transcends the mere access to and dispensing of drugs. Appropriate changes in health policy and health education will enable those involved in pharmaceutical care to serve as an education and information resource on drugs not only to the benefit of the general public, but also for the health team, administrators and community leaders. The Center seeks to demonstrate through continuing education and innovative training methods the strategic role of providers of pharmaceutical care in an increasingly complex world with myriad health care delivery challenges. In essence, we are helping to improve Pharmaceutical Care for tomorrow's world. |
